PPF or ceramic coating: which is better?
Paint protection film vs ceramic coating: protection level, lifespan, appearance and combining both.
Updated: 2026-10-06
The key difference
PPF is a protective film over the paint that helps reduce damage from stone impacts and light scratches. Ceramic is a thin liquid coating: gloss and easier washing, but no chip protection.
Choose PPF when
Consider PPF if you frequently drive on highways and want to preserve factory paint.
Choose ceramic when
Consider ceramic coating if gloss and easy maintenance are your priorities. It does not replace PPF’s protection against stone impacts.
Both together
One option is to install PPF on the front end and ceramic on the rest, or a compatible ceramic coating on top of PPF — combining protection and easy care.
